Homecoming, Playoffs, Halloween, all in the same week! Let the madness begin. Basketball playoffs are entering the second round in some leagues, while all football playoffs begin Monday.
Here's one rule change for the Flag Football playoffs. If you end a game in a tie, overtime is used unlike in the regular season.
Both teams receive 4 plays for the 10 yard line. It is not sudden death, so each team will have an opportunity each overtime period.
If tied, teams will continue to alternate possessions. There is never a requirement to go for 2 like in the NCAA.
Good luck!

Swamp Bowl Update
Congratulations to Touchdown Here for finishing 2nd in the Swamp Bowl this past weekend. They fell 27-13 in the title game to a team from UF. Showstoppers and ATO didn't do as well on the Men's side, however Showstoppers tied Southern University 20-20 in pool play, and Southern went on to win the championship.
Also, UCF's officials did very well as Robert Smyth was named one of the top 2 officials and will advance to the national flag football tournament. Rob officiated the Men's Championship game with David Decandis, while James Abarquez and TK McRory officiated the Women's Championship game.

This just in from the Swamp Bowl at UF. "Touchdown Here", one of the top women's teams at UCF defeated former national champion Southern University 18-12 in the semifinals to advance to the championship game. They are 3-1-1 on the weekend.
Both Mens entries did not fair as well, as ATO and the Showstoppers did not advance to the quarterfinals in a loaded bracket.

PLAYOFFS?!?!?
Some housekeeping reminders as flag football and baseball playoffs near:
- You may not add players to your postseason roster that were not on your regular season roster. If a player was on your original roster and did not sign in to a game for your team or any other team, you must contact the league coordinator for your sport to ensure they are eligible for your postseason roster.
- Tournament games cannot be defaulted. If you played every monday at 7, you may have a tournament game on Friday at 5, or Wednesday at 10. That's the nature of the the playoffs. Failure to show to a playoff game is a forfeit.
- If your team had a player ejected in the regular season, and you have another player ejected in the postseason, your team will immediately forfeit that game
- Teams that win Comp A, Co-Rec, and Womens divisions will be offered paid entry fee, and a travel/hotel stipend for the National Flag Football Tournament. Those tournaments are open to any teams, not just champion teams... however only champion teams in those divisions receive paid support from UCF/SGA. (Sorry Comp B and Rec, you're playing just for fun!)

A message from past Sports Trivia Champion Victor Anderson
"After many years of being the dominant force in Sports Trivia here at UCF, I feel that it would be in the best interest to all involved to step away from this competition. Having said that, I am offically announcing my retirement from active competition in Sports Trivia. However, per the request of one Gary Cahen and various collegues, I will have an active part in this Friday's Individual Sports Trivia competition. What my role will be shall be announced at the event. All I will say is this; if you want to be the champion this year, you'll have to earn this one. See you guys on Friday."

NBA official Eli Roe worked along side Intramural Officials Steve Anderson and Chris Morello on Tuesday night during the SAE-Sig Ep game. Fans in attendance disagreed with a few calls, once again proving that nobody will ever be happy. Eli is a volunteer instructor for the UCF basketball officiating class, and worked the game as part of the training provided to UCF students. Sig Ep won the game going away, 55-40. Below is a photo of a game last year in which Eli ejected Sam Cassell, who obviously deserved it.

PARIS -- The French parliament on Tuesday passed a law to give greater protection to referees in all sports from acts of violence.
Under the new law, causing injuries to a referee resulting in a work stoppage of over eight days will be punishable by up to five years in jail and a fine of 75,000 euros.
Violence against referees has increased in France in recent months. A referee needed 10 stitches in his head and suffered a partial loss of his eyesight after being hit by stones during an amateur soccer game in southern France in May last year.
"This is an appropriate answer to the concerns expressed by French referees as well as by all sports federations," French Sports Minister Jean-Francois Lamour said of the new law.
